I have been really swamped and therefore have not connected well through the blog. There are a multitude of things going on all at once and i think my brain is going to explode [let's hope not]. Since August we have put stationary into over 100 Angus and Robertson stores and last week we put our Christmas papercraft range into 50 Lincraft stores. You can also find this range at selected specialty stores. In the meantime we are trying to get our website sorted out [sorry to our fantastic wholesalers] and get through design work for our next release. So its kinda crazy around here......more importantly I have loads of half-finished craft projects to show you............
How much fun do you think I am to be around.........so whilst I go away and do fun crafty things here's a post from our newest team member NICOLE
Little did I know what I was really getting into when Sheena first offered me the opportunity to work with her here at the Rasberry Head Office (... just a fancy way of describing the one room home office filled with boxes and scattered stock and not an awful lot of visible floor). Coffee, hot chocolates, sandwiches, adorable children chattering at me and showing me anything and everything under the sun, autonomy, learning new skills, using my strengths, being PAID to photoshop...
It’s a hard knock life.
This morning at our coffee/breakfast/gossip meeting, Sheena and I were discussing the importance of knowing who you are. So often do we get caught up in this production line of “do this” and “do that” and “be this” and “buy that” that we forgot so quickly who we are, and what we like, and what we are good at!
It’s not that I don’t like direction, we all do. And I think we all need a little guidance, but at some point – are we blurring the line between allowing someone the right to guide us with the right to tell us what to do?
The great thing about working with Sheena is that she invests in me and advises me, but doesn’t PUSH me in a direction that I don’t want to go. She offers me a lot to learn and it’s really up to me to see how much of that I am going to take on board and soak in. Of course, it won’t work if I refuse to take on anything. Then there’s really no point in working here.
Teachability is a great gift, but not when you’re being someone you’re not. There is a uniqueness to all of us that needs to be recognised and celebrated. Meanwhile, instead of wondering why no one recognises the unique gifts in us, why don’t we go out and celebrate the uniqueness of someone else? Trust me. It feels a LOT better.
So make a card, write a thank you note, create your own IOU gift card (and make sure you follow through when it’s claimed!) for someone and tell them what about them is special to you.
Go on, I dare you.
